As stated by Epsilon, we gotta fight the consumerism going on. The fight is bigger than the Black Radio. These same 10 songs are being pushed by the label, and the label is paying the radio stations to play those same songs all day every day. Radio personalities are getting a paycheck while recycling the same 10 songs. The personalities can't get blamed for making a living, per se. They just seem to be the face in front of the radio station to take the brunt of the blame. I'm sure that if it were up to them, they'd take a chance on some of the music from the artists you mentioned above. And it's sad but true that many of those same artists may have something more to talk about, but they instead succumb to label pressure to come out with a radio single. If they fail to do it, they fail to sale, or get promoted. But that's another topic entirely. At the end of the day, it's all about money, and in this world of consumerism, music is a business.

I think we give radio and music too much credit for retarding the growth of the Black community.

I believe that the Hip-Hop art form needs to be saved from consumerism. We cannot have successful Black Radio without successful black artists **with substance**.

I think the problem is that we're trying to save the "radio", when a LOT of the Hip-Hop generation at large still celebrates the sadomasochism and lyrical narcotic peddling from many of our favorite artists.

Jay-Z has been misogynistic for years, but he still gets a free pass by many of us. Why?

Why don't we hold the artists accountable for their portrayals and depictions of black men and women?

Why don't we hold the parents accountable for allowing the TV and the Radio to do their jobs?

We say that the Hip-Hop product is a huge culprit in brainwashing a lot of our brethren, but we're not willing to boycott that product just to recover lost Black minds...

Why?
