Anyone who knows me is probably gasping and clutching their chests at the title of today’s blog post. I’m sure if they were in the process of drinking anything tasty, their computer screens, phones, or whatever is now covered in it. Well to put to rest any fears that I’ve done gone and switched to the dark side, let me answer that question. YES.
Plies is pretty bad.
Plies latest contribution to musical murder is the song Becky. Now it’s not completely new but whereas I used to refer to extremely ditsy women of the melanin-challenged persuasion as Becky’s (and one of my blogger alter egos is actually Becky The Black Blogger) I am no longer able to. Any utterance of the word Becky is now met with some random grunt in the affirmative or some sly grin followed by an attempt at a high five. I’ll give you an example:
Me: Yea* so there was this Becky at the gym last night and..
Them: YEEAAAAA BECK-AAAYYY.
Me: Stop. Just stop it. Anyways, she was grunting all Venus & Serena like and…
Them: BECKY LIVES!!!!! (Or #BeckyLives for my Tweeps)
Me: *pulls out gun and ends it all*
Right I mean I get it. Men love fellatio. They really really love it. *shrugs* Whatever rocks your boat, I don’t care. However, when I admit my disgust at this song many men challenge me that it’s not that bad, and in reality Plies is only saying what most men are thinking. *Blink….Blink…* Additionally, I even had one man tell me that Plies is saying what most women want to hear as well. (Where are these wretched “ladies”!?)
I beg to differ.
Real men and women do not think and talk in this manner. If they do, I would more than likely say they are more accurately boys and girls. I honestly, don’t want to have such vile words on my blog, but I just have to post the lyrics to this mess. (Any inaccuracies and spelling errors are the fault of the website).
Chorus
I’m on this liquor oh so heavy fo we f*** can you neck me. A little head and I am ready I want yo mouth give me that Becky
Verse1
Keep that p**** I want yo throat front that head fo you go.Wet yo mouth fo you blow, must get Becky fo I bo. You Mz.Becky? Let me know licky licky I love that bro. Head n**** thatz fosho umma lock yo jaws fo I go.
(Chorus)
Verse2
Like p**** love head will pay I got that bread, open yo mouth fo you open yo legs. Man down I am dead. Suck no d***,can’t get in my bed, heard me right thatz what I said. Drop that spit right on that head squeeze that meat and hit that head. ( Chorus)
Verse3
Tired of p**** I’m retired. Aint f***ing her! got too many miles. will put poll rite in her mouth. babbit p**** aint my style fly head make me smile. put this mayonnaise on yo child. gotta be grown to f*** with plies. the longer you suck the longer I wow.
(Chorus)
verse4
Just got Becky I can’t move I love Becky yes I do. I get Becky I am glued, give me Becky I’ll do you. you don’t do Becky Bye Bye Boo. I love Becky like my jewels. You don’t like Becky you a fool, oughta put Becky on the news. Becky Becky she so cool, i don’t get Becky I can’t sleep I need Becky Fo I beat. Becky Becky marry me.
What? For real? Now I’m not saying that every guy I know is a perfect gentleman but I refuse to believe that in their minds they are looking at their girlfriends (or whatever sexual encounter person) thinking such disgusting things. I do not understand where men get off degrading women in such a way. How is this fulfilling? If you’re having casual sex with a woman please don’t forget that she’s also having casual sex with you. Treating her as a simple whore means that you are one too. I’m not even going to get into the the whole “white women do what black women won’t” issue. But if I were a white woman I’d be like “seriously! WTHarmonicas!?” Like I said, you like oral sex, great! But there HAS to be a better way to say, “Pardon me darling. I know you wish to have intercourse, but in all honesty and excuse me for being frank, I would just prefer some good old fashioned fellatio. It’s just that you do it so well that I’d actually like to offer a proposal of marriage.” See.. I just did it. LOL
And if you are sexing down a female with “too many miles” and that bothers you to the point that you would rather only allow her to orally adorn you, then all I can say to that is… Kill Yo’ Self.
I digress.
But is it true? Are there people out there that I would typically respect in daily life that actually THINK this way, but are just afraid to say it? Now I unfortunately have friends who enjoy this song, but I refuse to believe that this how they would prefer to talk to women. My biggest issue with Plies is that he’s smart. He knows that ignorance sells and he turns his ignorance WAY up. Most people by this point know that he’s a great actor and his persona is just a front, but surprisingly, no one cares. People still love the illusion. At the end of the day it’s almost as if Plies is mocking his listeners. It’s like he’s thinking, “Even *I* don’t believe this crap I’m spitting, but you dumb goons just eat it up while I make millions. This is great!”
Let me apologize again, I don’t mean to call the Plies fans dumb goons actually I really do, because like I said, I happen to know a few and love them dearly. Yet and still they KNOW not to come at me with this Plies b/s. I think I would be slightly less mad at him if he just really didn’t know any better. But he does. Therefore I will add him to the list of musicians that I’m rallying the Secret Order To Bring Back Good Music to kidnap.
This cannot continue. Who’s with me!?
***Amendment*** This weekend in ATL Plies is having a casting call for the “Becky” video. I am considering going to Club Primal to try to talk girls out of auditioning. I’m going to bring a mirror and show them the beauty that they are taking for granted and seriously misunderstanding. Any other suggestions as to what I could say to perhaps convince at least ONE girl to reconsider? Even if it’s just this one video.

Thankfully, I’ve never actually heard this song, but it’s just sad and disgusting to me that guys look at girls in this way. I am irreversibly traumatized for life.
I was going to go into a long detailed account as to why I don’t like that dude… but you said it all for real… he plainly SUCKS… and to the girl that says he is kind and articulate, I need for you to think about this… if he is so nice and articulate in person then why is he purposely making music that contradicts this view? If he is just doing it to make money then that speaks to the rap industry of today. Either way he is doing both women and men a disservice.
Yes! You should definitely go to that club and at least try to talk some sense into those women who would knowingly let themselves be objectified by Plies. I don’t buy the fact that he’s smarter than he puts off, because I feel like any intelligent individual wouldn’t sell out his people for a dollar. This misogyny in hip-hop has to stop. PLEASE go to that club and try to talk some sense into those women. Hell, try to talk some sense into that negro while you’re at it…
I have never heard the song, but I stopped fooling with Plies when he made that damn Bust it Baby…I kinda liked him back in the Shawty days (which was just last year! LOL)…but iCan’t.
Mentally, Plies is correct, men conjure these graphic images of women…all the time. My issue is with his pathetic lyrical ability to explain it. I’ve thought of women in that manner, only I found a more eloquent way to express it. I’m not sure if colorful prose is an absolvent agent, nor do I even care.
The male psyche, as it pertains to sex, has remained the same across all races and creeds for generations. Somehow, women are unable to comprehend this. We don’t have the burden of purity that women have, so we let our imaginations run.
@Alvin Grimes, “Somehow, women are unable to comprehend this.”
You sir are correct. Why should I be able to? I understand that men have images of women sexually, but I am so appalled to believe it’s as sick as plies explains it. I’m sure men think, “I’d really like her to give me head right now” but seriously?
“Keep that p**** I want yo throat front that head fo you go.Wet yo mouth fo you blow,”
I just can’t deal with that.
Like I said, he doesn’t express the sentiment articulately, but the imagery remains the same. There are some girls that you just want head from. I know that this is crude, but once you strip away human pretense, we are all crude in some form.
Epsilon, I strongly disagree when you say that no intelligent person would sell out their people for a dollar. Character and mental aptitude are not synonymous.
@Alvin Grimes,
Agreed.
unfortunately, I know some women who love plies and think everything he says is sexy and oh so true… plies got some tracks i like cuz he keeps it real, but he killing hip hop one stupid song at a time. what are the people talkin about these days??? ‘i got plennie money’…its a reccesion, black people are more unemployed than any other race in the country and plies is on the radio saying- i got plennie money… ok are you sharing? lol life is tough…
**DEAD**
Good article. I can tolerate listening to about 30 seconds of 99% of Plies songs. Although I can understand the point that Plies is trying to make all I thought when I read the lyrics was SERIOUSLY! What kind of nasty gutter butt trollops does he deal with??? I hope he doesn’t talk like this for real. On one hand it’s great business smarts of Plies to objectify the coonery that entirely too many people encourage but on the other it’s saying some SAD stuff about our generation if THIS B.S. is a hit and is going to have a video. I’m still at a loss as to why the hell people still listen to him.
BTW … I think you should definitely try to get at least one girl to not do the video, but you have to consider that not doing the video if she is accepted or hired (which do video girls get??) would be potential money out of her pocket.
@Sheera, Dead seriously.. They don’t get paid very much, and if she was struggling THAT bad, I’d pay her out my own pocket.
u have a gud point!!!!i am 25 and i used to love this song but now that you went into details this is a disgrace
@shantel, Well…..I’m glad I could at least help to show you the ignorance behind this song is nothing to celebrate in the club. It’s sick.
I want to say that I’m appalled that anyone likes this crap.I want to go off about how much it objectifies women. But all I can think about is how hard I still rock to Lil Kim circa 2000 (“I aint tryna suck ya/Might not even f*ck ya/Just lay me on this bed/and gimme some head”) and realize I’d be a hypocrite.Have I ever had those thoughts? I plead the 5th bu I found/find it hilarious when Kim put those thoughts to rhythm.Rap can be lewd and gross. But it can also be entertaining in its grossness. I may not like this song, but I can’t knock it. It is what it is.
@Robin Monique, Girl 9 years ago I was *cough* 16. LOL I kid you not I was not listening to Lil Kim like that but I do remember hearing some of her stuff thinking “did she really say that? wth?” And I remember when Khia came out with “My Neck/My Back” and I thought… FML before FML was cool. I think I laughed and made fun of it way more than I even thought to enjoy it. Now I think sex is great in whichever way people choose to express it. But I have never thought sexual ideas in such a vile way. But that’s just me. LOL and maybe I’m one of few.
@Robin Monique, @Robin Monique,
Not just Lil Kim… but:
Shawnna (Gettin Some Head)
Khia (My Neck, My Back)
Lil Kim (Any track)
Trina (Ditto)
Nicky Minaj (Double Ditto)
Any male rapper outside of Lupe (Triple Ditto)
Hip hop is now extremely sexual, especially if you want to “sell”. EVERYBODY talks about sex, even women. Some of the female rappers I named above have some of the worst lyrics.
Plies launched his career with “Shawty”, furthered it with “Bust It Baby”, and everyone LOVED it. You can only go so far with that concept…so you can’t expect it to go anywhere but downhill from there. Hence “Becky”. It wont stop, until the mindset of our entire culture changes.
@Robin Monique, Damn. My Blackberry was NOT my friend when I made this comment. Just grammatically awful! *Hangs head in shame*
So is it the fact that he’s thinking this way about women that makes the song such a disgrace? Or is it the fact that he actually put his words and thoughts down on record? Some men actually do think this way…its reality. I’m not one for broadcasting a message that helps disparage women, but the reality is that the lyrics that Plies put down do often happen in reality. Men think and act that way, and women actually DO exactly what Plies is talking about. So really…he’s just speaking how he feels. I don’t advocate this song at all… I have a mother, sisters, aunts, cousins… so I respect and appreciate women to vouch for this song in any way. But the reality is that this song is a result of a society with low morals…not one man with immoral thoughts.
@SW, This song is disgusting. Hands down. Already established this. My question was to hopefully discover that people don’t actually think this bs. I see that they do. This scares me. For real.
@JG*,
Unfortunately, SW is correct. People, especially men, are quite vile and disgusting in their thinking. Maybe you and I are the only ones who aren’t so much. :-|
I actually like a few of Plies’ songs – only a few. I need to listen to mindless bullshit from time to time, what with my hard ass job and the fact that I’m a serious person by nature. Would i go out and buy an album of his? NOPE. Do I condone the lyrics to “Becky” (never heard of it until reading this blog entry) or (more than likely) his other songs? Probably NOT.
I’m tired of this fake outrage. Listen, EVERY guy you know has thought about sleeping with you. EVERY SINGLE ONE. The only difference is as we get older we learn to mute those instincts strategically. If you’re over 15 and you haven’t learned that you’re being willfully ignorant or just not paying attention. Personally I don’t agree with the misogyny in Hip Hop so I’m not a big fan of a lot of the music. Most people have a separation between what they think and what they verbalize which is why we find Hip Hop so problematic -it plays to our most base instincts. But yes, men always want a freak in the sheets and a lady in the streets. I know you wish it were different but no amount of “stimulating conversation” is going to make up for you bedroom activities. Trust me -even the guys who go to church with you and the hard workers who dress nice are thinking the same thing…
@Cassius, Maybe I said it wrong… but i’m pretty sure I mentioned it’s not particularly WHAT he said.. but HOW he said it. I said above that there are several different ways to say “I enjoy head” without being a loser about it.
@JG*, Adding to the point, I totally understand that people think about sex. That’s normal and natural. Sex is AWESOME.. but I can look at a man that I’m attracted to and not think “F*** what that N**** THANK I just wanna put my P**** all over him and *other really nasty ish*” There’s a difference. That would even ever cross my mind to think it.
@Cassius,
It’s not fake outrage. It’s genuine disgust. :-|
Uh this is nothing new in Hip Hop. Too Short had “Blowjob Betty” back in ’86 (I’m showing my age). The only difference is nowadays you have talentless entertainers portraying the sexually charged messages. And folks of both genders do think like this and love oral gratification…….
@SA, I’d argue the point that Plies is talentless. I think it takes real talent to think up talentless ways to make money.
@SA, See for the most part I manage to miss certain things because I honestly don’t listen to too much hip hop. I mean I do, but mostly underground, and if the song is rude, I skip it.
Not to disregard your argument, but he’s making money for self and his message is not uplifting or beneficial.
@SA, I realize that. I was just playing Devil’s Advocate. I would never make that argument in reality, lol. Even if I could make it make sense.
plies sux ass and has NO TALENT..NONE..NONE LIKE HEYULL…the last song I liked was Shawty ….that song is cute..but she still some side puss that works in a strip club *sigh*. Oh..and I think people should make the music they want, and people should listen to they want. WHO CARES if someone wants to hear this vulgar music. I for one love vulgar music…I read vulgar novels..but I dont feel like im doing my whole “group” a disservice by listening to it (not plies tho)
